Holden´s excited travel writing

Exciting things to do in New York

Due to some probably extremely interesting situations that might have happened to me, my usually very pessimistic self has gotten very excited to write about all the amazing things one can do in the city of New York. The First reason why I would recommend any traveling person to come try out New York is because we have the world´s most famous center park, central park and you should at least spend half a day to explore it, with lots of beautiful scenery and interesting activities to do.
And its not just the park, there are many other interesting activities and places to visit for absolutely free! Such as waking through the Brooklyn bridge or taking a ferry. When talking about foods, you there are three Ps you should definitely look for: Pizza, Pretzels and Pastrami. These are three specialty-foods that you can find pretty much all around the city that you should definitely try here.
As a note to people who don´t want to spend too much, instead of buying pastrami in famous places such as Katz´s delicatessen you can get something just as good for half the price at Eisenberg´s Sandwich, don´t make the same mistake I did !

semester 2 week 1 summary

Before this week I already knew about modernism in music.
What I learned after this week was about the mordenism in architecture.
This week we made oral presentations about modernism in different aspects.
We also did a group work taking quotes out of the book to explain different things about modernism in the book The cactcher in the rye. After that we did group works making a crossword about vocabulary on modernism in literature. We also read a few chapters of the book The catcher in th rye.

             Dear Jane, I guess...
Sorry ´bout that not really sure how to write these, specially after it´s been so long. So hows everything been? do you still stack all your kings at the back?
I haven´t ben doing all that great myself actually I just got the axe hereat pencey... What a bunch of phonies, this school is nothing like the phamphlets show it to be.
Did anything happen between you and stradlater? I hate that bastard always puting on a sexy guy act... he´s just another phony. Just so you know he´s really not the kinda guy you wana be with, like seriously!
Not long, he asked me to write an english composition for him. After spending all my afternoon on it that bastard just threwit away! Normally I would´t mind but I was just so inspired on that one specifically, it was about my brother the one who died... specifically though it was abou his base ball mitt.
Anyways that Stradlater guy is a real phony just warnin ya... yaknow wouldn´t wan him doin any weird thing to yuo, specially knowing that guy...
Sometimes I wonder if what I´ve done is rght... the only reason I´m flunking everything is just ´cause I don´t put any effort into writing countless papers for all these phony bastards. But still every now and then I start to wonder if I should actually put some effort into it.
I normally don´t like writing for alot of people I mostly write for my own amusement.
Well ya know... I´m mostly free for now and got nothing to do so if ya wana hang out or something hit me up I´m always around the school grounds, or atleast for now.
sory if the letter is going on for too long I just am realy no god for these things or what I should say on a letter, I´m better at speakin face to face.

Blog entry the catcher in the rye

Chapter 1: How does the narrator feel?

The narrator feels confused, disgusted at the school´s system, and very tired of everything. Evidence of this can be seen throughout the chapter in how he´s always complaining about somehing of the school or how ¨the headmaster is phony¨. He´s also out of energy because of the pain that is getting expelled from schools all the time. He acts in a very laid back manner, trying to show he doesn´t care, but thats typical of teenage boys when they actually do care.

Chapter 2: What does the conversation bewteen Holden and Mr. Spencer symbolise?

The conversation they have is basically Mr. Spencer lecturing Holden, and its very important because Mr. Spencer is like every other single adult or authority in the book. In which he shows him as disgusting and never understands what the kid actuall feels, and it shows us his response to the way  Mr. Spencer acts, by responding in a very laid back way not actually caring what the teacher says. He says he just gives him the ¨old bull¨ which is basically giving him the same excuse he uses every time.

Detailed explanation of the techniques used in the creation of our interactive poster.

In our glogster, we tried to incorporate all the techniques we learned in school. Although we didin’t use all of them we got most of them. We went for the logic and the emotional approach, pathos and logos. We make them understand that if they join our academy, they are actually doing good because they are donating to charity, and if you are donating to hungry kids in Africa then that means you’re a good person right? We used testimonials from famous people, such as Ocelote, we used the following quote:” I´m glad I can now support my home with money just by streaming and going to tournaments.I want to thank the academy for helping me raise my ELO”
And lastly, we used shock advertising, which is shown in how we showed a video of the african kids, and a gamer going to see them, and showed how they were so underfed.

# description of advertising campaign

Our campaign is of utmost importance to the Mackay community, the games are often under appreciated by teachers as a method to teach values to kids. Through games you are forced to learn how to work cohesively with a team, and to respect them as equals, or else they won't try to help you when you're in need. Our target audience, is off course the whole Mackay community, everyone from play group up to 4th medio. Through this campaign what we hope to achieve, is more people joining our academy that we started. To advertise and get this academy known we used pamphlets, glogsters and even radio commercials! We had a three-part campaign, in which we first started by making pamphlets, after this we proceeded to make glogsters, which are online interactive posters, and to finish it off we made a radio commercial. This was the description of our advertising campaign.

The power of words activity

1: This video portrays the image of power via the use of words. They show a blind man who doesn't get any spare change from the people who walk by his sign, when a young man feels compassion for him and decides to change the words in his sign. He used more powerful and meaningful words which made him get a lot more money. this portrays the power of the words.

2: The first sign uses pathos, by appealing to the peoples guilt; he is blind and cannot work, while people who can cannot spare him any money. The sign is poorly written and doesn't do a very good job at appealing to people's feelings. The second sign says "this is a beautiful day, but I can NOT see it". This sign uses the same technique of appealing to peoples emotions but uses a approach of making the other person understand how handicapped he is.

3: On the first sign people just walk by him, and the few people that actually give him money just walk by quickly not giving him much attention.

4: The reaction of people, when seeing the second sign was immediately going to him and sparing him a little money.

5: The video effectively conveys the power of words, by showing how conveying the same message but with different words can change so much how to people see you, and react towards you.

P 162 answers

1: the problem with video recording and distribution is that it makes it very easy for people to access these movies or shows the film industry makes and people can just get them for free from their home, why bother leaving home and paying when you can get it for free in the safety of your home? this negatively affects the film industry.

2: the radio and television can broadcast these new movies/songs and people can just listen/watch all these media for free, but there is also a good side to this, it´s practically free advertising because people get to listen to a free sample of your music and if they like it, they will buy it when if they hadn´t heard your music for free they would have probably never heard your music or watched your movie.

3: the negative impact the internet has had with the mass media is that all the products of sound or film can be distributed for free in different sites such as piratebay. But then again it also has the same positive side that radio and television has as in its free advertising. The effect of the internet was massive connection for everyone and anywhere in the world, which is good for sending a message or commercial to anyone, but bad because its very easy to distribute these products.

4: the big difference between proffesionals and amateurs when distributing this film and sound is that proffesionals make sure they appeal to as much npeople as possible with a as broad as possible mindset, they make music with low personality so that its very hard to not like it, while on the other hand amateurs are only worried about appealing their own audience which is smaller but more critic and harder to appeal. These two roles can in some cases be interchageable but most proffesionals would never sacrifrice the profit just to appeal to a more select audience, and on the other hand most amateurs frown upon this bland music that is just made to appeal to everyone, although some amateurs would go mainstream if given a chance, although this is highly frowned upon in the internet community

anecdote task year 2013

It was just the start of my vacations, and I was ready to roll. Started out going to arauco in the south of our country, I was staying on a friends cottage for a few weeks, it was right next to the sea and the drinking water was terrible, but it was well worth it, staying next to the sea with kayaks, surf boards, a tuned motor boat, fishing nets, poles and even harpoons.
My first day was just to recognize the territories around me, I walked on the beach for around 2 hours and found quite an amusing amount of sea shells all of which have nothing to do with my anecdote.
next we proceeded to make a barbecue, which surprisingly enough was our food for the whole time we spent there, Yes! we ate barbecue every single day!
anyways, that is enough for describing the place where the anecdote happens, on to the action. One day a friend of my fathers decided to bring this little thing that apparently Chilean people call the "sacachuchas" which is a doughnut-shaped floater attached to the motor boat with a string, in which you simply sit on and let the boat's driver take you around for a drive.
Bear in mind this is a tuned motor boat so it was running much faster than the regular ones, after a few minutes of riding around I was completely exhausted so I lifted my hand and made an "OK" sign meaning to say that I was okay to finish, yet they took it as me saying it was going too slow and I was still okay, so they decided to turn the motors up to full, and well, lets say that was not very pleasant.
